GUWAHATI, April 17 � The Hindi remake of path-breaking Assamese classic Dr Bezbaruah is all set to hit the silver screen on May 16, the date fixed for its all-India release.
Titled as Shivam, the flick is based on the original screenplay written by acclaimed filmmaker Brojen Barua in 1969 for Dr Bezbaruah.
The music of the movie, with three original tunes, has been scored by Ramen Barua.
Barua has added two fresh songs for the remake.
The music of the film starring Pankaj Badra, Dibyajyoti Das, Arundhuti Bora, Aroushika Dey and Mohit Chauhan, besides a host of other actors, was launched today at India Club here.
Popular Bollywood singers including Udit Narayan, Shaan, Alka Yagnik, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Rajyoti Konwar of Assam have lent their voices for the songs.
Producer of Shivam, Jogiraj Choudhury said, �I am hopeful that the movie would do well not only in Assam but across India.�
Actor Nipon Goswami, who played the lead role in Dr Bezbaruah, hoped that the Hindi remake would be able to bridge the gap between Bollywood and the regional film industry.
�It�s a novel endeavour and hope the movie is able to attract audiences everywhere,� Goswami told media persons on the sidelines of the music launch function of Shivam.
Directed by Anshuman G Barua, the film was entirely shot in North East India.
