Hindi Divas Samaroh celebrated at IIT Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Sept 19 - Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) celebrated Hindi Fortnight and Hindi Divas Samaroh � an annual event - from September 1 to 15 at the institute.

Dr Kusum Kunja Malakar, head of the Department of Hindi, Cotton University, who was invited as a guest speaker, delivered a lecture on the topic �Hindi-Rashtrabhasha: Rajbhasha: Dasha-Disha-Samasya�.

Earlier, the celebrations kicked off by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Prof TG Sitharam, director, IIT Guwahati, Prof Rohit Sinha, executive chairman, Official Language Implementation Committee, IIT Guwahati, Dr Kusum Kunja Malakar and Dibya Jyoti Goswami, joint registrar, Administration, IIT Guwahati, in the presence of other senior officials.

Highlighting the importance of the Hindi language and how its implementation in day-to-day activities is necessary for national integration, Prof Sitharam said in order to make the Institute one of the best in official language implementation, it was important to do official work in Hindi as well.

�A speech in Hindi befitting the occasion should be presented during official events,� he said. Prof Sinha delivered the inaugural speech.

To celebrate the Hindi Fortnight-2019, several competitions were organised for IIT Guwahati employees, students and institute campus children.
