DIBRUGARH, Nov 3 - The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for trying to harbour illegal foreign nationals in the State in the name of religion.
The town committee of the AJYCP condemned the Minister�s recent communal statement in which he reportedly stated that the Assamese communities must stay with the Hindu Bangladeshis to safeguard their own identity. �Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma must refrain from making such communal statements. All foreign nationals irrespective of their religion must be deported to their own land,� said Sumon Devnath, president, AJYCP, town committee. Dr Himanta�s effigy was set ablaze by the protesting members of AJYCP on RKB path near Khemka market.
