Himanta reviews preparedness in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, March 21 - State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today reviewed the preparedness to combat coronavirus cases in the district here.

The minister arrived at the Assam Medical College and reviewed the preparedness to tackle coronavirus cases. He held meetings with doctors, nurses and other staff in presence of Sameer Sinha, Principal Secretary, Health; Pallav Gopal Jha, Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh; Dr Hiranya Kumar Goswami, Principal, AMCH and other officials of the district administration and the medical institute.

The minister had also checked the screening arrangements at Mohanbari airport on his arrival.

Malls to remain closed: Given the stepped up risk posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) challenge, the Dibrugarh district administration today ordered the temporary closure of all shopping malls in the district until further orders. These outlets will remain closed from Sunday morning. These outlets will include stores like Big Bazaar, Vishal Megamart, City Life, Reliance Trends and any other similar retail outlets.

Meanwhile, the district administration has appealed to all citizens to avoid crowding up religious places like temples, mosques, churches etc. This is for maintaining social distancing and prevent a viral outbreak.
