Himanta reviews Covid-19 scene at Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 4 - In view of the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases in Biswanath district, State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma arrived at Biswanath Chariali today and reviewed the situation in a high-level meeting held at the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath.

He instructed the district administration to follow the guidelines strictly and also to make necessary arrangements as the number of quarantined people might increase gradually in Biswanath district. The minister announced that there is no possibility of community spread of Covid-19 in Assam as timely precautionary steps have been taken by the government.

The meeting was attended by State ministers Ranjit Dutta and Pijus Hazarika, Tezpur MP Pallav Lochan Das, MLAs Padma Hazarika, Pramod Borthakur and Utpal Bora, Chairperson of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) Ashok Bhattarai, Deputy Commissioner Dhruvjyoti Das and others. Later, Sarma, while addressing a press conference, said that if anyone living in the quarantine centres tries to break the rules, then it will be strictly dealt with. A non-bailable and �attempt to murder� case would be registered against them, the minister stressed. He appealed to everyone to keep a close watch on the people who had returned from outside because it was not possible for police to catch each and everyone of them.
