Himanta reviews BJP strategy for LS polls in Tripura

By CORRESPONDENT

AGARTALA, Aug 10 - NEDA chairman Himanta Biswa Sarma has exhorted the BJPs rank and file not to be complacent and work hard to ensure the partys victory in both the Lok Sabha constituencies of Tripura.

The situation in Tripura, where the party is in power, is very much in favour of the party. Local party leaders and workers must work for a triumph with a huge margin, Sarma told party leaders at a meeting in the party headquarters here on Thursday.

Party leaders should not be too confident after the Assembly election win. Every election should be treated as a challenge. Moreover, we should maintain close relations with the people who have benefited from the Central Governments welfare schemes, he told the party leaders.

Sarma, who is in charge of six NE States excluding Assam, was here to review the partys preparedness for the 2019 general election.

Sarma also had a meeting with the party core committee to discuss the poll strategy for the Lok Sabha polls early next year. Senior BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and State BJP general secretaries Rajib Bhattacharjee and Pratima Bhowmik were present in the meetings.

The core committee also decided to have a two-day brainstorming session on August 31 and September 1 here.

The agenda is of course the Lok Sabha elections. There will be an elaborate discussion on the election process for West Tripura Lok Sabha seat on August 31, while the East Lok Sabha constituency will come up for discussion on the following day, said a party leader.
