SILCHAR, March 9 - Reacting strongly against the statements made against the Congress party by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, coordinator of BJPs election management cell, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has alleged that Sarma is fanning communal politics for the sake of votes to sail through the test in the ensuing Assembly elections in the State.

In a release issued to the media, APCC spokesperson Dipon Dewanjee has attacked Sarma saying that only a traitor and an opportunist like him can hail the Narendra Modi government. Sarma is praising the BJP government only to save himself from Sharada and Louis Berger scams, Dewanjee alleged.

Further, criticising the former Congress minister, Dewanjee said his love for Barak Valley is only to woo the voters. Sarma was a minister in the Congress government for long years and so, he should shoulder the blame if the valley is lacking in terms of development. During his tenure as the State health minister the Cachar Cancer Hospital was not even given a recognized status, the APCC spokesperson said.
