NALBARI, June 15 - Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday formally inaugurated the State�s first dialysis centre under the PM�s National Dialysis Programme at the Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital here.
The centre will be run by Apollo Hospitals in public-private partnership mode. After inaugurating the dialysis centre, the Minister said that eight such dialysis centres will be opened within June 20, and 18 more centres during the next three months.
Dr Sarma said that services offered in these dialysis centres will be free of cost to the patient and Rs 1,296 will be paid to the implementary agency by the Government. Of this amount, 90 per cent will be cleared by the Central government. He was hopeful that the Centre will be of great help to the kidney patients.
Health Minister Dr Sarma further said that the condition of the hospitals in the State are much better today than those in Kolkata.
The inaugural meeting was addressed, among others, by Dilip Saikia, MP of Mangaldai Lok Sabha seat, Ashok Sarma, MLA of Nalbari LAC, Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari and Dr Sudhakar, a doctor representing Apollo Hospitals, among others.
The meeting was conducted by Dr Subhra Kingkar Goswami, a senior doctor of the district.
