Himanta lays foundation stones of devp projects in Tinsukia, Sadiya

DOOMDOOMA, Oct 28 - State minister of Education, Health and Family Welfare Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is on a tour of Tinsukia district since Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, the minister laid the foundation stone of the reconstruction work of 1.35-km-long G NB Road of Tinsukia town under the CIDF Scheme (2020-21) at Thana Chariali of Tinsukia. Later, Dr Sarma also laid the foundation stone of Tinsukia town Sunday market complex near bypass under CIDF Scheme (2020-21). This project is worth Rs 5.29 crore and it will be very important for both traders and consumers. In the foundation stone laying ceremony, Union Minister of State Rameswar Teli, State minister for Tea Tribes Welfare Sanjay Kishan, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma and several other dignitaries were present.

On Wednesday, the minister participated in a number of programmes in Sadiya. Dr Sarma laid the foundation stone of Sister Nivedita Academic Block and Dr Bhupen Hazarika Library at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sadiya. Sarma, in his speech, committed to make a contribution of Rs 10 lakh from the State government for infrastructure development of the school.

Dr Sarma also visited Sri Sri Sankaradeva Than Bor Namghar at Chapakhowa. Addressing the gathering, he announced that an additional amount of Rs 5 lakh would be spent for infrastructure development of this holy place in addition to the fund already earmarked.

Dr Sarma also visited the historic Burha Burhi Saal of Sadiya and laid the foundation stone of a drinking water project.

Later, the minister also laid the foundation stone of 8.50-km-long road from NH-37 to Missing Borgorah via Asomiya Borgorah Ghumtibil Road. This is a signature project of PWD under SOPD-G (2019-20).

Later in the day, Dr Sarma also addressed a meeting of party workers at Ambikapur in Sadiya. Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah and Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia accompanied the minister in all these programmes.

Meanwhile, BJP Saikhowa Mondal Committee submitted a memorandum to the minister during hid visit urging him to set up a Government Model College at Dangari area under Doomdooma Revenue Circle.
