Himanta inaugurates hospitals, health care services in N Lakhimpur

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Nov 17 - State Health, Finance and PWD Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated the Maternity and Child Health Hospital and the Prime Minister�s National Dialysis Scheme service in North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital premises.

An inaugural function was held on the occasion where Dr Sarma inaugurated the two services by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the public, Sarma said that the newly-constructed Maternity and Child Health Hospital under the National Health Mission had 169 beds with extra paediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities for natal and post natal care. He also said the dialysis facility at the hospital would provide free services to the people of Lakhimpur district. The dialysis facility in the hospital would be provided by the medical staff of Apollo Hospitals and informed that already 32 patients had registered their names for the services in Lakhimpur.

Dr Sarma also announced the setting up of a cancer hospital in North Lakhimpur with all facilities of chemotherapy and radiation. The cancer hospital would be constructed by Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and will be completed in 18 months. He further announced that the construction of the Lakhimpur Medical College would be completed by August 15, 2020. The function was also attended by minister for Panchayat and Rural Development and Cultural Affairs Naba Kumar Doley, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta and Dhemaji MLA Dr Ranoj Pegu. The district BJP president Phanidhar Baruah and social worker Manab Deka and Rao Gajendra Singh were also present at the function. The Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Jeevan B, PWD Commissioner-Secretary Raj Chakrabartty, NHM ED, Dr Achyut Baishya were also present in the inaugural function.

Earlier, Dr Sarma visited the Dhakuakhana Sub-Divisional Hospital and announced the setting up of a blood bank in it within two months. He also laid the foundation of the Rs 54 crore Dhakuakhana Town Water Supply System.
