GUWAHATI, Oct 25 - The Janasankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF) has hailed Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma�s decision to close down all government-run madrassas in the State and convert them into general schools.
Foundation�s NE chapter chairman Shailendra Pandey said the bold decision would benefit the State�s education system and help the nation fight against population explosion.
�... Assam shares its border with Bangladesh, a country that has already contained its population. However, the labourers from that nation have infiltrated into Assam and changed its demography. We need a strict population law to control such illegal activities,� he said.
�We believe that the Govt of India will very shortly implement a strong policy for population control. We are really proud that the Assam government has already passed such a bill and is trying to implement it in the State,� Pandey added.
