Himani Nath of Bhergaon brings glory to Udalguri

KALAIGAON, Feb 9 - Himani Nath, a Class-X student of Rias Academy of Naobandha in Bhergaon sub-division of Udalguri district, has brought laurels to the district by securing third position in the state-level science-based poster- drawing competition held at the Regional Science Centre at Khanapara in Guwahati.

The programme was organised by ASTEC (Assam Science Technology and Environment Council) for 229 Aryabhatta Science Centres on February 6 and 7. Students selected at the Block and district-level Aryabhatta Science Centre science-based competitions took part in the state- level meet held at RSC, Khanapara.

Himani Nath hails from a financially backward BPL family living at remote Naobandha village in Bhergaon sub-division of Udalguri district. She is the daughter of Hem Chandra Nath, a daily wage worker and housewife Minati Nath. Himani also secured first positions in Bhergaon Block-level and Udalguri district-level Aryabhatta science-based competitions recently.

The theme of the state level science-based poster-drawing competition was �Science against Blind Faith�. Various individuals and organisations of Udalguri district, including Dilip Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri DN Hazarika, SDO (Civil), Bhergaon sub-division, members of Udalguri District Journalists� Union, Tangla Press Club etc., expressed satisfaction and congratulated her.
