Himachal gain 3 pts against Assam

GUWAHATI, Dec 29 � Himachal Pradesh garnered three points from the drawn match against Assam by virtue of a 125-run first innings lead in their U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy semifinal match which ended in a draw at the Nehru Stadium here today. On the final day of the four-day match, Himachal were 421 for seven in their second innings when the stumps were finally drawn. With this first innings lead victory, Himachal have entered the final and promoted to Elte Group.

The visitors were 131 for two yesterday and added 290 more runs losing seven wickets today. Abhimanyu Rana was their top scorer with 85 while Nikhil Gangta contributed 69. Aakash Vashisht was the other half century maker with unbeaten 51. Today almost all the Himachal batsmen were among leaving Assam bowlers virtually at bay barring Ranjan Ramchiary who took six wickets.
