Highest single-day spike of 107 cases in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Aug 1 - Arunachal Pradesh registered the highest single-day spike of 107 positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, taking its total tally to 1,591. Arunachal Pradesh has currently 670 active cases and it has reported three casualties.

The State has recorded a 57.81 per cent recovery rate with the release of 918 infected persons so far, including 91 on Friday, Arunachal Pradesh Health Services Director Dr M Lego said today. As per a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services, 38 out of the total new cases have been confirmed in Changlang district, followed by 22 in the Itanagar Capital Complex. Fourteen cases have been reported from East Siang, 12 from East Kameng, 11 from Namsai and four from Longding, while Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Siang, Tirap, Papum Pare and West Kameng districts have recorded one case each.

As per the bulletin, 104 cases have been found to be asymptomatic and three symptomatic. Out of the 91 discharged cases, the Itanagar Capital Complex accounted for 47, followed by Papum Pare 33 and Tirap eight. One patient each was released in Upper Siang, Longding and Lower Siang districts.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Governor Brig Dr BD Mishra (retd) and his wife, Neelam Misra, underwent an RT-PCR test for COVID-19 at a hotel here today.

�Following a case through contact tracing, the Governor, the First Lady of the State and officials of Raj Bhavan, Itanagar had to undergo the RT-PCR test as a precautionary protocol,� stated a release here.

Later, the Governor appreciated the frontline workers, especially the medical staff and police personnel, for their untiring efforts in meeting the pandemic challenge. He called upon the people to cooperate with the district administration, police and medical teams involved in the battle against COVID-19.
