KOKRAJHAR, April 2 � Keeping in view the ensuing BTC election scheduled for April 8, a high level operational group meeting was held at Kokrajhar Circuit House here today.

The crucial meeting was held under the aegis of the Tezpur-based HQ of 4 Crops, which was presided over by Lt Gen Sarath Chand, AVSM, BSM, GOC 4 Crops and Chairman, Operational Group of the Unified HQ.

In the closed door meeting, the group reviewed the overall security situation in the BTAD area and resolved to initiate a strong and foolproof security measure for the smooth conduct of a free, fair and peaceful election.

Briefing media-persons at the Kokrajhar Circuit House soon after the meeting, Maj Gen CP Mohanty, GOC, 21 Mountain Division, said that the main objective of the meeting was to review the present security scenario of the BTAD so as to ensure a foolproof security arrangement enabling people to cast their votes without any problem.

MN Hazarika, Joint Secretary, Home, Government of Assam told media-persons after the meeting that directions have been given to put the security agencies on high alert to thwart any possible subversive activities before and after the election.
