By Correspondent

IMPHAL, March 8 - High Court of Manipur has declared the economic blockade by United Naga Council (UNC) as illegal following a ruling here. Earlier, Supreme Court had earlier issued an order in this regard, reports said.

A full bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice RR Prasad, Justice N Kotiswar and Justice Kh Nobin passed an order to this effect on March 3, the reports said.

The High Court also directed all authorities concerned of the State Government and Central Government including DGP, IGP (L&O), GOC 57 Mountain Division and IG Assam Rifles to ensure smooth vehicular traffic over the two National Highways 37 and 2 immediately.

Manipur had been witnessing indefinite economic blockade on the national highways by UNC in protest against the creation of new districts in the State since November 1 last year.
