Hepatitis B vaccination camp for scribes

GUWAHATI, April 30 � The Dispur Hospital would organize another Hepatitis B vaccination camp for scribes at Guwahati Press Club on May 5.

The city-based media persons, who had already taken the first dose of Hepatitis B vaccine on April 5 last, have been requested to attend the next vaccination camp for second and final dose of the vaccine without fail.

Caused by the hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis B is an infectious disease that affects the human liver. It can cause both acute and chronic infections. Shockingly, many people may have no symptoms during the initial infection.

The virus is transmitted by exposure to infectious blood or body fluids. The infection has been made preventable by vaccination since 1982 and the vaccination is recommended by the World Health Organization in the first day of life if possible. Statistics reveal that over 7,50,000 people die of Hepatitis B each year.

The second dose (Hepatitis B) vaccination camp will start at 11 am at the Press Club and continue till 1 pm, informed Ujjal Saikia, public relations officer of Dispur Hospitals Pvt Ltd, Ganeshguri, Guwahati.
