Hemen Barooah�s ashes brought to Kolkata

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 � The ashes of tea doyen Hemendra Prasad Barooah arrived at Kolkata from Bangkok this afternoon. His grandson and senior officials of his company will bring the urn containing his ashes to Jorhat on August 7.

Disclosing this, Assam Tea Brokers� whole-time director Joydeep Baruah told this newspaper that a prayer meeting at Kolkata would be held on August 9 for the relatives, friends, well-wishers and the trade�s people.

The adyashraddha of the iconic tea planter would be held at Jorhat on August 29, Baruah said.

Barooah died at Bangkok in the afternoon of July 31 at the age of 87 and as per his desire, his cremation was held at Bangkok yesterday.
