GUWAHATI, Aug 4 � Tea doyen Hemendra Prasad Barooah was cremated at the Bangkok Hindu Dharma Sabha Vishnu Temple today. The cremation was over around 3-10 pm Indian Standard Time (IST). His nephew Rajiv Barooah lit the pyre, said family sources.
The ashes of the iconic tea planter would be brought to Kolkata tomorrow and then to Jorhat later in the week, said the sources.
Sources also told this newspaper that a prayer meeting would be held at Kolkata on August 9, while his adyashraddha would be held at Jorhat on August 29. It needs mention here that the tea doyen breathed his last in Bangkok on July 31 last.
Family sources informed that Barooah has left a last wish saying, � �No photograph to be taken after I pass away.�
At the cremation, Barooah�s family members and friends from India and overseas were present, said family sources.
