GUWAHATI, April 18 - Most of the messages coming through the helpline numbers, set up by the Assam Police to extend help to senior citizens amid the nationwide lockdown, are out of context and not related to the actual purpose.
In a statement issued today, the Assam Police again clarified that the helpline numbers are meant only for senior citizens of the state, who are staying alone and need help related to food, medicine or any medical emergency.
Such messages make it difficult to focus on messages which require immediate intervention. The helpline teams are still identifying and providing help to senior citizens who are in genuine need of administrative intervention, amongst all the calls, it added.
