NEW DELHI, May 19 � Ahead of Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi�s arrival in the capital, MLAs have made a beeline to lobby for ministerial berth.
The two State guesthouses have been flooded with bookings from the aspiring ministers and their supporters. Some MLAs have already landed, while others are on their way. The Chief Minister is scheduled to touch down in the capital on Friday afternoon.
Some of the MLAs, who have already arrived included Raju Sahu, Bolin Chetia, Durlab Chamua, Himanta Biswa Sarma, GC Langthasa, Rihan Daimary, Sumitra Patir, while those expected to arrive included Akon Bora, Dr Ardhendu Dey, among others
The MLAs though are treading cautiously and guarded in their reactions, some MLAs attributed their sudden arrival to medical check-up, others said they were here because of pressure from their supporters. Some MLAs maintained that it was difficult to have a close door discussion with the Chief Minister in Assam, hence they have come to meet him in Delhi.
Raju Sahu told newsmen that so far none from Chabua has been given ministerial berth and it is time that a legislator from the constituency is given representation in the council of ministry. �I didn�t want to come but my supporters insisted that I come and meet the AICC leaders,� he said.
Samua also argued that though he is a first time MLA but the fact that he is a giant-killer makes all the difference. �I am confident that the party would not over look this fact,� he argued.
Meanwhile, elaborate arrangements have been made to receive the Chief Minister at a airport tomorrow. Several local organisations including Assam Association Delhi, student�s body are planning a reception for the Chief Minister. Gogoi was incidentally president of the Association for couple of terms.
