Hearty farewell accorded to Tribune employees

GUWAHATI, Feb 29 - Employees of The Assam Tribune Group of Publications today accorded a hearty farewell to Roheswar Chiring, Chief Proof Reader of The Assam Tribune, Pranoy Bordoloi, Accounts Manager and Jiaur Rahman of the machine section at separate meetings held in the office campus. They retired from service today.

The first meeting was presided over by Executive Editor of The Assam Tribune PJ Baruah. Several speakers including Hasan Ahmed, Manoranjan Sarkar, Madan Kalita, Devasish Sinha and Sivasish Thakur spoke, recalling their association with Chiring and terming him a sincere employee during his long tenure of nearly 35 years. He was felicitated with a sarai and other gifts. Chiring had joined The Assam Tribune on August 1, 1985.

The second meeting was presided over by Praneswar Barman who shared the dais with Karuna Kanta Pathak and convenor of the meeting Manjil Borgohain.

Jiten Kalita, Karuna Kanta Pathak, Niyati Rani Sinha, Dulali Devi, Pradip Biswas, Nilutpol Kotoky, Hiranya Kumar Barman and Tulika Pathak recalled their association with Bordoloi and spoke about his positive attributes. Bordoloi was felicitated with a sarai and other gifts. He had joined the organisation on August 1, 1989.

At another meeting, Jiaur Rahman was accorded a warm farewell by his colleagues who recalled with fondness their association with him. He had joined Tribune on April 1, 1977.
