Health City Hospital organises bike rally

GUWAHATI, Oct 11 - On the occasion of International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Health City Hospital today organized a bike rally � �Pink Ride� � from the hospital premises here to Chandubi.

The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro Biswajit Pegu. In his inaugural speech, Pegu stressed the need to hold more such programmes and explained as to how early screening can help in diagnosis. He praised the hospital and the organizing team for the event.

Hospital CMD Dr Bhabananda Das spoke briefly about the significance of the breast cancer month, which is celebrated in the month of October every year.

It is observed in different states in different ways. This year�s theme is �Give hope, save life.�

�The rapid increase in the disease among women is due to lack of knowledge. Almost 50 per cent of the breast cancer cases are diagnosed at late or advanced stages,� Dr Das stated.

Hospital Facility Director Parag Jyoti Dutta said 50 bike riders took part in the rally. Hospital Medical Director Dr BP Chakravarty, Director of Medical Service Dr Atanu Barthakur, Dr Hemjit Talukdar, Dr Pankaj Deka and Dr Niju Pegu attended the event.
