Health campaign for villagers

DIBRUGARH, Dec 22 � In a campaign on �Health and Family Welfare,� the Directorate of Field Publicity and National Rural Health Mission called upon the villagers of Bahani Borpathar under Kakopather development block in Tinsukia district to develop strong physical immune systems to get protection from diseases.

The daylong campaign, organised in coordination with Surjudaya, an NGO and AKASH, a local youth club, was inaugurated by Bhola Sonowal, headmaster of Bahoni LP School.

In the awareness meeting presided over by Sonowal, resource persons Akhil Chandra Baruah, social worker and Minu Bora, health worker, educated the audience on child and mother health, sanitation, healthy food habit, communicable disease and other important health issues. The community was also educated on protection of health by maintaining healthy life style and use of folk medicine.

Earlier Pranab Kumar Nath, field publicity officer, highlighted the aims and objectives of the programme. He said that with a view to make the rural and semi-rural masses more health conscious and consequently come forward to take benefit of government health schemes, the Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, in collaboration with NRHM, has launched such health awareness campaigns in all parts of the country.

The programme also included an interaction session, quiz competition, prize distribution and distribution of T-shirts to the participants.
