GUWAHATI, March 23 � Artemis Hospitals, Gurgaon conducted a �Women�s cancer and cardiac awareness and screening Camp� here on Monday.
Boxing champion Mary Kom was present on the occasion to inspire the participants to become aware of the prevalent diseases and get screened at the proper time. The initiative is aimed at spreading awareness regarding these diseases.
In her speech, Mary Kom requested everyone to come forward and join hands in the fight against these deadly diseases. More than 100 women were provided complimentary cardiac and cancer screening tests and specialist consultations. The primary objective of the camp was to educate people on the early symptoms of the diseases and the preventive measures that one can take at an early stage.
Expressing her appreciation on the initiative, Mary Kom said, �Women are the backbone of the society; they play multiple roles every day, right from taking care of their families to supporting them emotionally and financially. In our region, we have a large number of people suffering from cancer and heart- related diseases. Hence, we need to do much more in terms of educating people on the prevalent diseases.�
