Head Quarter, Northern Assam in control

GUWAHATI, Aug 19 - Head Quarter Zone and Northern Assam Zone were in pretty good position of securing a first innings lead in their respective two-day matches of the Assam Challenger League organised by the Assam Cricket Association today.

At the Judges Field, Central Assam Zone were tottering at 96 for six in 37 overs in reply to Head Quarter Zone�s first innings total of 158.

In the other match at the DN Singha Stadium in Goalpara, chasing Northern Assam�s first innings total of 236, Lower Assam Zone batsmen were struggling at 19 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs when the stumps were drawn for the day.

Brief scores: Head Quarter Zone 158 in 51.1 overs (Parviz Aziz 66, Sunzow Brahma 33, Prasanta Sonowal 24; Jogeswar Bhumij 5/40, Bikash Chetry 2/04, Dharani Rabha 2/55). Central Assam Zone 96/6 in 37 overs (Diptesh Saha 31 n.o., Hrishikesh Tamuli 21, Dipankar Miri 4/20).

Northern Assam Zone 236/10 in 69.3 overs (Wasiqur Rahman 84, Tarjinder Singh 55, Rahul Hazarika 26; Sibsankar Roy 5/47, Hrishikesh Bora 4/59). Lower Assam 19/4 in 20 overs (Amit Yadav 12 n.o.; Rohit Roniyar 2/08, Hirokjyoti Das).
