GUWAHATI, Aug 28 - The Gauhati High Court today ordered the State Government to pay a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh to the father of Dwitun Mushahary, who died in police firing in Dhubri in 2006.
The court, after hearing advocate Bijon Kumar Mahajan, the counsel for the victim�s father (petitioner), and counsel PS Deka, the counsel for the State respondents, directed the State machinery to deposit the amount within three months time through the Registrar General of Gauhati High Court.
The incident took place on April 25, 2006 when during a NDFB-called Assam bandh Dwitun Mushahary had gone to Sapatgram market and the police allegedly resorted to fire.
Later, father of the victim � Dwitun Mushahary � filed a writ petition with the Gauhati High Court demanding adequate compensation and justice.
