HC directs APPSC to conduct fresh exam

By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Sept 17 - In a landmark judgement, the Itanagar permanent bench of the Gauhati High Court has invalidated the results of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, APPSCCE (Prelims), 2017, conducted by the APPSC on July 29, 2018.

Disposing of a series of writ petitions filed by aggrieved candidates, the Court directed the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to conduct a fresh preliminary examination within two months by strictly following rules and guidelines.

The Prelims conducted on 29.07.2018, the results declared on 02.08.2018 and 16.08.2018 are hereby set aside. In view thereof, the Mains conducted on 10.11.2018 also do not survive and stands set aside, reads the judgment given by HC judge, Justice Nelson Sailo.

The HC directed that the Commission shall now conduct fresh preliminary examination by strictly following the rules, guidelines, syllabus etc within a period of eight weeks.

The Commission has been asked to allow all the candidates who were earlier given admit cards to appear in the prelims. Admit cards already issued may be used by the candidates for sitting in the prelims and if the same is no longer retained by the candidate, the Commission will issue a fresh one on request.

In view of the above conclusion and direction, WP(C) Nos. 636(AP)/2018 and 604(AP)/2018 are rendered infructuous and are disposed of accordingly, the Court added.
