HC directive to SPs on inmates of detention camps

GUWAHATI, April 15 - The Gauhati High Court has asked the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of all the districts to ensure that the detenues having spent more than two years in detention camp is released on bail, as has been directed by the Supreme Court.

Besides, the Court has also sought compliance of several conditions including declaration of verifiable address of stay after release, capturing and storing of the biometrics of the iris of both eyes and all ten finger prints and photos in a secured database before release from the detention centre concerned.

Those released on bail will have to give an undertaking that he or she will report once every week to the local police station or outpost and that they would notify any change of their address.

The Court also ordered that the SPs shall submit a quarterly report to the FTs concerned regarding appearance of the detenues.
