HC directive to Kamrup DC on Kamakhya

GUWAHATI, June 17 � A division bench of the Gauhati High Court comprising Chief Justice (acting) K Sreedhar Rao and Justice PK Saikia, after hearing a Public Interest Litigation (No. 10/15), directed the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (M), to prepare and submit the proposed steps to be taken for the benefit of devotees of the Kamakhya Mandir along with a sketch map of the said action. The PIL was registered on the issues relating to the amenities and other facilities required to be provided for the devotees who are visiting Kamakhya Mandir, including vehicular movement to the Kamakhya Mandir.

The Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (M), appeared in person before the court today. The court, after hearing the matter, directed him to submit the proposed steps to be taken for the benefit of the devotees.

The case is fixed for further hearing tomorrow. The court further directed the presence of the Debottar Board�s representative.
