HC direction to aggrieved MBBS candidates

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 13 - Acting on a writ petition filed by some aggrieved candidates seeking admission into the MBBS Course-2019, the Gauhati High Court recently directed the petitioners to submit their detailed representations before the Director, Medical Education Assam, who, the court said, would consider and dispose of the same as expeditiously as possible and adjust them if there be any seat remained unfilled.

The Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, conducts mop-up rounds of counselling for spot admission for filling up vacant MBBS seats on merit basis, for which educational notices are made public.

The seven petitioners, who are alleging anomalies in the selection of candidates through counselling, had earlier contended before the court that as many as 71 MBBS seats had not been made public for allocation to meritorious candidates.
