Hazare to address rally in city

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, April 18 The fight against alleged corruption of Tarun Gogoi Government might turn nasty, with Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) seeking help of noted Gandhian and anti-corruption crusader, Anna Hazare to take on the Congress government.

Hazare and his supporters are now scheduled to visit Assam on May 3. The team that is slated to accompany Hazare includes RTI activists Arvind Kejriwal, Swami Agnivesh, Kiran Bedi, Medha Patkar among others. Incidentally, all of them are closely involved with the ongoing movement against corruption and Hazares indefinite fast in support of the Jan Lokpal Bill.

The invite to visit Assam was extended by KMSS leader, Akhil Gogoi, when he called on Hazare at Maharastra Sadan here this morning.

He later told newsmen that the Gandhian leader accompanied by his supporters would tour Assam next month. Akhil Gogoi said he sought Hazares support to fight corruption in the State.

The KMSS has been spearheading a movement against Gogoi Government alleging involvement of several of his ministers in corruption and gross financial irregularities including the multi-crore-rupee Dima Hasao Hills scam.

Meanwhile, along with few of his supporters, Akhil Gogoi accompanied Hazare back to Pune to get a first-hand experience of the model villages started by him. Hazare and Kejriwal will address a mass rally in Guwahati during their May 3 visit.
