Hasina thanks Tripura CM for LBA

AGARTALA, May 9 � Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed has thanked Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for extending support to the Land Boundary Agreement Bill which was passed by the Rajya Sabha, officials said today.

Bangladesh Prime Minister called up the Chief Minister last night and thanked him for taking initiative for passing the Bill, they said.

Sarkar in reply told Sheikh Hasina that the relation between India and Bangladesh would be more friendly and cordial after passing of the Bill. The relations would also get a new dimension and it would be further consolidated, he added.

Hasina also said that she could never forget Tripura for its contribution during the Bagladesh liberation movement in 1971.

The Chief Minister informed the Bangladesh Prime Minister that Tripura Government was constructing a �frienship park� at Chottakhola in South Tripura district in memory of the 1971 liberation war and the work would be completed shortly.

Sarkar further said that Hasina would be invited during inauguration of the park. She also invited Sarkar to visit Bangladesh, they said.

Tripura accommodated more than 15 lakh refugees during the liberation war, which was more than its own population at that time and it was also the headquarters of the liberation war. � PTI
