Hari Narayan Baruah remembered

HAILAKANDI, Aug 29 - The 46th death anniversary of the founder of the Village Defence Party, late Hari Narayan Baruah, was observed in Hailakandi on Sunday last.

A meeting was held on the occasion at the conference hall of Sadar Police Station in Hailakandi town under the auspices of District Village Defence Party. The meeting began with the garlanding of the portrait of late Baruah. The deputy advisor of the Village Defence Party, Samsuddin Barlaskar, Officer-in-Charge of Hailakandi Sadar police station, Surajit Choudhury, chairman of Hailakandi Congress Sevadal, Hirendra Chandra Paul, Fakrul Islam Mazumdar, Surajit Deb, Mashuk Ahmed, among others addressed the meeting.

All of them highlighted the life of late Baruah and his contribution towards the establishment of the Village Defence Party. It was also decided to set up a statue of late Baruah on the premises of Hailakandi sadar police station before his next death anniversary.
