By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 27 The hardliners in the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has declared that if the followers of Mahatma Gandhi extend their full support to the liberation struggle of the ULFA, the outfit would be ready to follow Gandhism.

In a release issued to the media, publicity in charge of the hardline faction of the ULFA, Arunodoi Dohotiya appealed to the Team Anna and all the followers of Mahatma Gandhi to extend support to the liberation struggle launched by the outfit and reminded them that Gandhi had never supported oppression of any kind.

The ULFA said that the followers of the ideals of Gandhi may raise the issue of arms struggle by the ULFA but we must admit that we also do not like weapons but we were forced to take up arms struggle only because of the attitude of the Government of India. We are ready to follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi if all those who follow Gandhism extend their support to us, the release said.

The ULFA alleged that the corporate houses take most of the decisions in India and they are the ones who decide who would be the Prime Minister of the country. The movement launched by Anna Hazare proved that the so called democratic country failed to fulfill the aspirations of large majority of the people of the country and there is need for improving the morale standard of the people to check corruption. If the corrupt people are socially boycotted, the menace will come down to some extent, the ULFA said.

The ULFA made it clear that it has full respect to the movement launched by Anna Hazare against corruption, but at the same time, the outfit said that even passing of the Jan Lokpal Bill in the Parliament would not help Assam. Corruption is not the only problem faced by Assam, said the ULFA and hoped that Team Anna would extend its support to the liberation struggle of the ULFA.
