GUWAHATI, May 30 - The All Tai Ahom Students� Union Kamrup district unit president Basant Gogoi has condemned the alleged harassment meted out to a family from Arunachal Pradesh by some miscreants on May 20 and demanded police action to check such incidents in future.
In a press release, Gogoi said that Igam Badak and his family members, including a five-year-old child, visited Dibrugarh for treatment of a family member in a nursing home. After consulting doctors in Dibrugarh, they were returning to Pasighat, when three boys in a drunken state came on a scooty, stopped their car near the Bogibeel bridge and started accusing them of damaging their scooty. The boys allegedly threatened the family, and forcefully took an amount of Rs 15,600 and fled.
Gogoi said a similar incident took place a few days later when the same scooty was used to extort money from passengers of another vehicle. Gogoi has appealed to the Dibrugarh and Dhemaji civil and police administrations to look into the matter.
