NEW DELHI, April 16 Within hours of intervention of Minister, DoNER, Bijoy Krishna Handique, Delhi Police arrested the prime suspect in the assault of brother-sister duo from Manipur, Yudhveer Singh from Munirka area last evening.
Police sources confirmed that they have arrested Singh from Munirka village, where he was hiding for the past three days. He is being interrogated to ascertain who he was with when they beat up the victims and whether he had installed a camera to tape the girl. It is a matter of investigation and police would identify the others involved in the incident, police officers were quoted as having said.
As reported, the brother-sister duo were beaten up by their landlord and neighbour in Munirka after they protested his indecent gestures and allegedly taping her on a spy camera on Tuesday night. Both sustained serious injury and were admitted at AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Meanwhile, Handique on Friday urged the Delhi Police to take urgent steps to nab the culprits involved in the assault of a Manipuri brother-sister duo.
It is a matter of grave concern that the culprits are yet to be arrested after three days of the incident. However, we have full confidence on the Police and we have asked them to hasten the process of locating and arresting the accused immediately. The use of spy cameras in the rented buildings also needs a proper investigation. Our Ministry officials are closely following up with the concerned authorities and are also taking measures on the recovery of the sibling who is recuperating at the hospital. Handique said in a statement.
The DoNER Minister said he is personally keeping a tab on the developments of the case and has also directed a senior officer from the Ministry to visit the victim and assured the necessary support and help from the Ministry. The officer also met concerned police officials to take stock of the progress of the case.
