DOOMDOOMA, Dec 31 - Eight men and eight women teams have qualified for participating in the handball event of the Assam State Sports meet to be held at Silchar from January 7 to 12. The qualified teams (men) are � Guwahati, Lakhimpur, Baksa, Sivasagar, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Nalbari while the women teams are � Sivasagar, Guwahati, Sonitpur, Jorhat, Nalbari, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh and Doomdooma (Tinsukia).
These teams were selected in the 13th Inter-District Men/Women Handball Tournament held at Laluk in Lakhimpur district. In this tournament, men�s team from Guwahati, Lakhimpur and Baksa districts secured first, second and third positions respectively while in women section Sivasagar, Guwahati and Doomdooma (Tinsukia) secured first, second and third positions respectively, informed Assam Handball Association officials.
