A preparatory meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall here recently under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Megh Nidhi Dahal, wherein matters relating to ramping up of the polling booths across the district to make them more accessible and hassle-free for the voters, particularly the aged and differently-abled persons, were discussed threadbare.

Matters that figured prominently in the discussion included providing power connection, drinking water facility, toilets, ramps, waiting sheds, etc., in all the polling stations within the district.

The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer urged all the stakeholders to work in tandem and to complete the assigned work at hand in a time-bound manner.

“Among the several responsibilities pertaining to the conduct of elections, ensuring the convenience of the voters at the polling booths is an important one,” the DC said.

The meeting was convened by Dahal to see to it that the needs of the voters are adequately taken care of at the polling booths.
