By Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, Oct 9 In a major development BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary this evening resigned from the post of chairman of Bodo National Conference (BNC).

In his resignation letter submitted to the chief convener of BNC, Mohilary expressed his disappointment over certain factors which were not consistent with the principle of BNC that was created to usher in peace, unity, brotherhood and harmony in the area.

The BTC chief maintained that acts of extortion, kidnapping and other illegal activities still continue regularly in the region bringing tragedies to the common people, to which BNC remains a spineless spectator. He has also attributed the destabilising factors to elements opposed to peace, unity and development in the region.

Talking to mediapersons Mohilary said that the BNC was formed in November 2010 at Kokrajhar by as many as 42 Bodo organisations to stop fratricidal killings, to expedite talks with NDFB (P) and also to negotiate with anti-talk faction of NDFB. Further, he pointed out that the recent remark of Govinda Basumatary that he was using BNC for his own political mileage was totally baseless.

The BTC chief revealed that a bike rally will be organised tomorrow in Kokrajhar by the Youth BPF in protest against the regular incidents of abduction, killing, extortion and other illegal activities.
