Haflong to get treated water supply soon

By Correspondent

HAFLONG, July 11 - The Chairperson of NC Hills Autonomous Council, Ranu Langthasa has assured the citizens of Haflong of getting treated and filtered water soon.

Langthasa, who is looking after the PHE department, visited several vital water supply schemes in and around Haflong including Haflong Main PHE water treatment plant in the presence of Deputy Chairman, Hem Bahadur Chetri, executive engineer, PHE, Upendra Sing, BJP Mahila Morcha member, Depali Hapila etc., on Saturday.

After visiting all the water supply schemes of Haflong, Langthasa said that after they received some complaints regarding untreated and insufficient water supply in the town, she with the team of PHE officials and BJP workers visited the water supply schemes and also the water source at Retzuol. She added that the most of the water supply schemes of Haflong have become old, and failed to cater the required demand of people corresponding to the increase in population of the town.

Upgrading and proper designing of these schemes have become the need of the hour so that proper water supply to the people can be restored. Since the Government is committed to the people, she believed that the Central and State Governments would understand the actual requirement of the people and do the best for the mitigation of such problems at the earliest.

She said that she would hold a meeting in this regard with the NCHAC and start the work to provide filtered and treated water to the people of Haflong at the earliest.
