HAFLONG, Dec 23 - Though there has been an acute financial crisis among the people due to non-payment of salaries by the NC Hills Autonomous Council to its employees, the preparation for Christmas celebration here is in full swing.
Churches at Songpijang, Muolhoi, Fiangpui, CHT Synod, near Donbosco Haflong etc., are being decorated with Christmas trees, paintings and lights. People are very much enthusiastic to celebrate the festival with great pleasure and happiness. People of different religions living in the cosmopolitan township of Haflong have joined hands to celebrate the Christmas. However, the traders in Haflong market are not happy as they couldn�t do well in their business during this festive season.
Requesting anonymity, an employee of NC Hills Autonomous Council said that it would be a great Christmas gift for the people of Dima Hasao if the Council could clear up the pending salaries of the employees.
