HAFLONG, Feb 29 - Dhruv Dholakia, the rider of Facebook fame was accorded a warm welcome by Haflongites on Saturday at the Boat House, Haflong in the presence of a huge gathering.

The Highlanders rode along with Dholakia all the way from Umrangso to Haflong. A large number of schoolchildren were present and curious to meet the young biker who plans to go around all the 29 States in over a years time. On being received with so much love and affection, Dhruv gave a short speech to thank the children, Highlanders, the civil administration, NGOs and Assam Rifles along with Gorkha Rifles.

Dhruv said whichever parts of Dima Hasao he had seen, had great potential for promoting tourism and providing employment to residents. He was particularly impressed by Umrangso Lake, Panimur waterfall, Haflong Lake and vibrant colours of various tribal dresses. He appreciated the spirit behind the lyrics of Highlanders theme song and was happy to receive the Highlanders Badge as a souvenir.

Dhruv thanked Amarendra Barua, Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao, who also attended the function. He also thanked the civil administration and NGOs like MaD, Changes Society and DOTS for the gesture. He said Go Tribal, Go Natural, Aao Dima Hasao was the right slogan for a district where people from 13 tribes and six non-tribes live alongside peacefully.
