Haflong Ethnic Street inaugurated

HAFLONG, Sept 2 - The Chief Executive Member, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa inaugurated the �Haflong Ethnic Street� in the presence of executive members, Samuel Changsan, Nandita Gorlosa, Golonjo Thaosen, MAC and Chairman, Monjit Naiding, MACs, Nojit Kemprai, Ratan Jarambusa, Principal Secretary, RK Mazumdar, Deputy Commissioner, Amkitabh Rajkhowa and others recently.

�Haflong Ethnic Street� has been set up by Haflong Municipal Board in collaboration with the Tourism Department, Blue Hills Society and Haplou with the aim and objective of promoting tourism and encouraging ethnic food thereby facilitating income generation.

Different ethnic groups like Dimasa, Jem, Kuki, Hmar, Karbi and others have put up ethnic food stalls on the street.

The CEM addressing the media after inaugurating the first-ever �Haflong Ethnic Street� said these small things are being organised to encourage the youths for entrepreneurship. He said, �we are organising Falcon festival at Umrangso, Jatinga Festival at Jatinga, Holy Bath festival at Panimoor and Busu at Maibang to promote tourism. This �Haflong Ethnic Street� will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week.
