Guwahati, April 23: A special mobile recruitment van has arrived in Guwahati and it will travel across the northeastern states to hire youths for various jobs.

Teleperformance or TP Shuttle has been launched by Teleperformance, a leading provider of outsourced customer experience management and digital integrated business services. The shuttle will travel across cities, including Guwahati, Shillong, Aizawl and Dimapur among others, with the intention of hiring aspirants looking for exciting job opportunities in the Business Process Management (BPM) sector.

The bus will be in Guwahati till April 26 and it will head for Shillong on May 3. On May 10, the bus will travel to Aizawl and on May 17 it will be in Dimapur. In Guwahati, the bus is stationed in front of Sreeji Towers, Christian Basti, GS Road. In an interview with The Assam Tribune, Teleperformance India's chief human resource officer Vinod Mehta shares more about the shuttle and its goals.

Some of the excerpts:

The Assam Tribune (AT): What are your expectations from the northeast states?

Vinod Mehta (VM): As an equal opportunity employer, our main objective with this initiative was to offer the growing talent pool of Northeast India the opportunity to work with a global organization and to experience being a part of the growing outsourcing vertical in India.

We are keen to leverage the amazing untapped talent pool of NE India, as we believe that the region is diversely populated, with an equal ratio of males to females, and people have the desired characteristics like empathy and customer-centricity.

In an era where each interaction matters, enhancing employee and customer experience should be the top priority for all companies. This recruitment initiative is designed to strengthen our commitment to this approach.

We are also committed to equalizing gender ratios across all levels of work. By tapping into the North-East region, our focus is to build a rich, gender-smart, diverse team with multilingual capabilities and high empathy to cater to the specific needs of customers and make a real difference in people's lives.

AT: What types of jobs will be for the youngsters and where will they be posted?

VM: We are looking to hire and develop customer interaction experts across positions in CX, Operations, Cloud, Technical Support, and New Age technologies. These roles will give employees the option to either work from home or work from any of our 35 sites across the country.

AT: There will be work-from-home options as well. Can you say a bit about this?

VM: During the pandemic, we developed the Teleperformance Cloud Campus (TPCC), a global virtual platform that enables remote working through geographically dispersed, yet connected, teams. The TPCC has made it possible for our employees to work from anywhere in the world while remaining connected virtually to their teams through one of our Cloud Campus Hubs. It allows the selected candidates to receive training and coaching from any location.

Seeing the success of the TPCC model, we are committed to building a sustainable hybrid working model, which will cater to all of our clients needs. As part of the TPCC model, we continue to offer remote working options that make the training and onboarding of the new members simpler, safer and faster in today's digitally-advanced, virtual world. We also offer specific positions to fresh talent in our various delivery centres across the country.

Presently, Teleperformance India is the largest multicultural team of 80,000 interaction experts serving 200+ clients in 22 languages from 70 cities in India.

AT: What is the number of youngsters you will be recruiting especially from the NE region?

VM: Starting with a minimum of 1,000, we are looking to hire and train more than 2,000 interaction experts from the Northeast region by December 2022.

Teleperformance strives to break down barriers, and this initiative is opening the doors of opportunity for so many people, who may have otherwise been overlooked. This is just the start of the TP Shuttle, as we plan to expand this recruitment plan to reach other regions of India in the near future.

AT: Which places the TP Shuttle will be stationed in each city?

VM: The TP Shuttle will travel around the Northeast, including Guwahati (Assam), Shillong (Meghalaya), Aizawl (Mizoram) and Dimapur (Nagaland).

The recruitment van will be stationed in leading colleges and institutions, taking opportunities straight to the freshers' doorsteps.

AT: Do the aspirants need to apply beforehand or can they just walk in with their valid documents?

VM: The TP Shuttle is equipped with an end-to-end recruitment process on the move, including registration and assessment kiosks, interview and pre-on boarding desks, and job-letter closure.

The whole recruitment process will happen on the same day, from resume submission to assessments. Candidates can just walk into the shuttle with their valid documents, where interviews will be conducted after the self-registration process.

We found that the traditional hiring process does not always reach the wider talent pool, so our intention is to make recruitment as simple and as exciting as possible for freshers. Reaching the right talent is essential for us and we are committed to cultivating a richer, diverse, and more inclusive workforce.
