Guwahati, May 14: Within a couple of hours of a video surfacing of security personnel purportedly punishing children for violating curfew in Guwahati, the city police ordered a probe into the matter.

The few seconds long video had come to light, widely circulated through social media also, wherein some security personnel are seen making some children and women kneel down on the road for violating curfew rules. The video was purportedly of the Fancy Bazar area of Guwahati. As public outrage against the video poured, Guwahati Police announced a probe into the matter.


"With regard to a video showing some security personnel allegedly punishing women and children for allegedly violating curfew norms at Fancy Bazar area, an enquiry has been ordered," the Guwahati Police posted on it's official Twitter handle, tagging the director general of police.

The police have been enforcing curfew and other COVID 19 restrictions in the State with a firm hand as the COVID situation continued to be alarming.
