Dispur, May 13: Minister for Environment and Forest Parimal Suklabaidya deeply mourned the death of 18 numbers of elephants due to massive lightning at Kothiatoli range in Nagaon district on Thursday.
In a statement here today, Minister Suklabaidya said he would visit the site with PCCF (wildlife) and other officials on Friday morning to take stock of the situation. Suklabaidya said a team of forest and veterinary officials had already visited the site.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed Minister Suklabaidya to visit the spot to assess the situation and to take necessary steps.
