Guwahati, Nov 1: "Following instructions from the Supreme Court, the Kamrup (M) district administration will take all kinds of necessary measures this Diwali to prohibit the use of firecrackers containing barium sulphate", said Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu at a press conference here on Monday.
The district administration will also announce some designated locations in the city, to ensure the use and sale of only green firecrackers in the city, Pegu added. Bursting of such crackers shall be allowed for 2 hours during Diwali from 8-10 pm, 2 hours during Chhatt Puja from 6-8 am.
