Guwahati pays tribute to victims of 2008 serial bomb blasts

Guwahati, Oct 30: The Kamrup (Metro) district administration on Friday organised a special memorial function under the Ganeshguri flyover to pay tribute to the victims of the serial bomb blasts of October 30, 2008.

An all-faith prayer programme was organised to mark the occasion. The serial bomb blasts in the State including in Guwahati on October 30, 2008 remain among the most dastardly acts of terrorism the State has witnessed.

Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Gauhati East MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Lok Sabha MP Queen Oja, Dispur MLA Atul Bora, Minister of Excise, Forest and Fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya and Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu and members of the victims families among others were present at the programme.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Kumar Borah also attended the programme and paid his tribute. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute to the victims of the serial bomb blasts in Assam and offered prayers for their souls through a tweet.
