Guwahati, May 20: Debabrata Saikia has been retained as the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) for the second time.
Former minister Rakibul Hussain will also continue as the deputy leader of the legislature party of Congress for the second term, a meeting of the newly elected MLAs of the party decided here today. Further, Wajed Ali Choudhury has been named as the Chief Whip, while Kamalakhya Dev Purkayastha has been elected the deputy chief whip and Rupjyoti Kurmi, the secretary of the Congress legislature party.
Sushanta Borgohain will be the spokesperson and Rekibuddin Ahmed the treasurer of the Congress Legislature Party. The Congress had emerged as the single largest Opposition party in the recently concluded State Assembly polls.
